WobbleMeter: NewHeights XT Stability Test

Written by Camille Knighton | 3/2/2022

In this article, we're going to test the stability of the NewHeights XT electric standing desk from RightAngle Products. To measure the XT's level of stability, we will be using the WobbleMeter.

What is the WobbleMeter?

If this is your first introduction to the WobbleMeter, you might be wondering what exactly it is. The WobbleMeter is a tool used to measure a standing desk’s stability level. It identifies the stability of both side to side (wobble) and front to back (rocking) movement of a desk. Using the WobbleMeter as a standardized testing method makes it possible for buyers like yourself to find out just how stable a standing desk is before you buy.

WobbleMeter Score Guide

0-20 Excellent Stability

A score of 0 to 20 means that the desk has very little to no detectable wobble or rocking. A majority of desks will receive a score in this range when at its lowest height, when they’re typically the most stable.

21 - 30 = Very Good to Good Stability

Desks scoring between 21 and 30 have slight movement, but it won’t be noticed by most users.

31 - 40 = Good to Fair Stability

The wobble or rocking becomes more noticeable for desks scoring between 31 and 40.

41 - 50 = Fair to Poor Stability

At a score of 41 to 50, a majority of users will notice side to side or front to back movement in the desk.

51 - 60+ = Very Poor Stability

When scores reach 51 or higher, the presence of wobble or rocking will be undeniable. All users will be able to see there is a significant amount of movement.
